Alcohol and Drug Awareness:

Pikeville College seeks to encourage and sustain an academic environment that respects individual freedoms and promotes the health, safety, and welfare of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. These participants are expected to know and follow the applicable laws and all College rules and regulations. Each person is responsible for his/her own behavior.

Pikeville College complies with the Drug-Free School Communities Act of 1989. This act requires that Pikeville College certify it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees in order to remain eligible for federal financial assistance, as set forth in local, state, and federal laws, and the rules and regulations of the College.

Pikeville College prohibits the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees in buildings, facilities, grounds, or other property owned and /or controlled by the College or as part of College activities. Alcohol is not permitted on campus. Students who are convicted of an offense involving the sale or possession of a controlled substance may become ineligible for federal student aid.

For the College’s complete drug and alcohol policy regarding the Drug-Free School and Communities Act, you may submit a request to the Department of Safety and Security or the Department of Student Services. Student Services and the Department of Safety and Security conduct drug and alcohol abuse education programs each semester.
